Guideline of Details Required for a Pro Recommendation
At UBQ Store, we’re committed to helping you find the best solution for your networking or surveillance needs. To do so, we rely on a team of engineers trained by Ubiquiti who help us recommend the best products for our customers.
Projects can be big or small, so we won’t always need a full set of details. Here’s a guide to the kind of details that help us provide you with the best possible advice.
What kind of details do we need?
The more comprehensive the information provided, the more accurately the team can model your proposed scenario using specialized software. While we do not offer a design service, these models form the basis of the recommendations we provide with this free service.
Useful information you can provide:
- An understanding of the site – including floor plans and site photos, maps screenshot, hand-drawn mud map etc.
- Coordinates or locations that will require surveillance or wireless coverage, with shaded areas depicting the required areas for coverage of the UniFi security cameras. Desired wireless coverage should be marked in separate shaded areas.
- For situations where cabling is not possible between certain points or buildings, potential locations for the installation of point to point antennas with a clear line of sight between those points should also be provided.
- Provide details of existing network infrastructure, such existing cabling, whether or not there are points for networking located near anticipated locations of where the devices will be installed.
For complex projects, we seek a variety of information that can help us understand your specific context and requirements better. Here are some types of information that can be beneficial:
- Site Details: Floor plans and site photos are always useful. If detailed floor plans are not available, a screenshot from Google Maps, annotated with necessary details, can also be helpful.
- Surveillance Areas: Indicate the locations that will require surveillance, with shaded areas depicting the required coverage of the UniFi security cameras.
- Antenna Locations: In situations where cabling is impractical between certain points or buildings, potential locations for the installation of point-to-point antennas should be provided, specifically those with a clear line of sight between them.
- Distances: Provide an understanding of the distances involved in your setup. For distances longer than 20 or 30 meters, a point-to-point system is often required to ensure a reliable connection.
While it’s not necessary to provide all of these details, each piece of information improves our understanding of your project and helps us provide more accurate recommendations.
Making the Most of Our Recommendations
We understand that compiling this information may take some time and effort. However, the resulting recommendations will be tailored specifically to your needs and will vastly improve the quality and effectiveness of the final solution. While we don’t offer a design service, our access to field engineers helps us to frame your proposed scenario accurately, forming the basis of our recommendations.
